Vijay Awards 2015 – 9^th Annual Vijay TV awards – Criticism - Controversy

Vijay TV is one of the Tamil channels, which has earned huge publicity in a short period of time. Vijay TV introduced Vijay Awards which became popular among the film fraternity. Vijay TV awarded many people from the film industry based on their contribution. There were many categories of award which included – Best hero, heroine, comedian, movie, art director, editor, dance master, lyricist, music director etc. For the past few years there has been controversy going around with Vijay awards stating that they are not genuinely given. A lot of people from the film fraternity said that the awards were biased. So, what is the actual controversy? Here are some of the points from the critics,

1.    The awards given were biased and did not include deserving films. In the 9^th Vijay awards, films like pisasu weren’t recognized. There are arguments that the jury selected only movies which were owned by Vijay TV (eg. Cuckoo)

2.    The winners were informed about their award beforehand and were pleaded to attend the function. It was also argued that Dr.Ilaiyaraja (Music director) was given a special award but he left the function without taking it because he had to sit there for a long time.

3.    The viewers were not given anything to drink or eat. The viewers were made to sit for more than six hours and weren’t even offered water whereas stars in the floor were given juices and other things to eat.

4.    Important film stars like Vijay, Surya, and Vijay Sethupathy did not attend the function. Critics say that they didn’t attend the function because they thought the awards weren’t real.

5.    The program was hosted for a very long period of time and many stars left the place because they couldn’t stay that long.

Here are some of the points the defenders had to say for the criticism,

1.    First of all, it requires great credibility, network and ability to host a function of this cater and Vijay TV has been doing it successfully for the past 9 years. It is not easy to gather all the stars from the film unit and run a function like this.

2.    There is no single person who is giving these awards. There are jury members who take the decision. The decisions taken by them cannot always satisfy the interest of the people.

3.    Be it any function in the film industry, the viewers are not given anything to eat or drink. This is mainly because it is difficult to act on the dietary restrictions of all the attenders.

4.    The prolong duration of the function was mainly due to the speech given by the awardees and other performances. All these performances were done only to entertain the people. There might be few hundreds who are watching the function in the place but there are lakhs and lakhs of people who are watching it at home in the television at their homes eagerly.

5.    In any award function, encouragement is necessary. If critics keep on posting negative reviews about the Vijay awards function, then how will there be motivation for TV channels to entertain people.

Let’s hope that 10^th Vijay Awards comes out without any criticism and entertains us to the core.

5. Documents needed to be submitted from your side

a) Notarized copies of all pages of the passport.

b) Certified copies of your birth certificate ( it should have both your parent’s names)

c) Recent passport size photograph of yours (45mm x 35mm)

d) Copy of your bank statement (It should have consistent savings history)

e) Copies of other documents which show you have any other savings. (FD or RD )

f) You tax document for three years (if applicable)

g) If you are employed, then get a letter from your organization regarding your leave. Also attach your salary slip, length of employment. If you are running your own business then, show your company registration. If you are retired then show the required documents. If you are a student get a letter from the college or university.

6. Documents to be given by your daughter or daughter in law from Australia. (they can send it to you and you can attach it with other documents and submit it)

a) A letter of invitation from your daughter or daughter in law or other family member.(the letter should state that they are inviting you to stay in their house)

b) Evidence to show that you are related to the inviter

c) Passport copies of the person inviting you

d) Visa status of the person who is inviting you

e) A letter from the doctor or hospital stating that your daughter or daughter in law is pregnant.

f) Copies of inviter’s rental bills, telephone bills, their account summary – if applicable.

The World 10K Bangalore is a road running competition for 10 kilometers which takes place in Bangalore every year. This competition was first held in 2008 and it takes place in late May. This year (2015) it is going to be held on 17^th May. This competition is sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

The World 10K race starts at the Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore and loops several roads in Bangalore and finally ends in the same stadium. This race will feature some of the world’s best and fastest athletes taking the road on fire. World 10K Bangalore race event is organized by Procam International, a sport and leisure management firm, which also runs the Delhi and Mumbai half marathon. This is the eighth year since the race has stated and it has received incredible response among the people in the world. The best talented runners across India and thousands from the running group will be taking part in this event hosted by the Bangalore city.

Race categories

a) World 10K – This category is for International and National Athletes. It is a 10km run and the participants should be minimum 18 years of age.

b) Open 10K – This category is for amateur runners. It is a 10km run and the participants should be minimum 15 years of age.

c) Majja Run – This category is meant for fun runners. This is a 5.7km run and the participants should be minimum 12 years of age.

d) DHL corporate champions – This is a 10km run is open for companies and firms who are in existence for more than 1 year from the date of application. The company or an organization can register a team of 2 men and 1. A company can field up to 10 such teams for the run.

e) Senior citizen’s run – This category covers 4.2km and the participant’s age should be minimum 60 years of age.

For the World 10K and Open 10K run the fees is INR1000 for domestic applicants and USD45 for Overseas applicants. The application fees for DHL corporate champions it is INR5000 per team. The application for the Majja run is INR600 and USD25 for overseas applicants. For the senior citizen’s run and Champions with disability, its INR300 for domestic applicants and USD10 for overseas applicants.

Payment Modes
