Mysore Silks Factories:
KSIC presently owned factories were started in 1912 by Maharaja of Mysore province; initially only for royal fabrics and armed forces ornaments. The two factories processing silk from raw silk yarn to silk fabrics are situated at T.Narasipura and Mysore of Karnataka State.
T. Narasipura Factory:
The Silk Filature denotes to raw silk processing unit. It process raw silk yarn and convert to meet the need of raw material of silk weaving factory in Mysore. The factory at T.Narasipura is conducted by the General Manager and it is situated at Mysore District covering the area of 15 acres. The silk weaving factory at Mysore daily requires the raw silk yarn to process and they get it from their factory T. Narasipura. They also get cocoon around 100 kgs. from the GCM (Government Controller Market) daily according to their requirement to produce them as the cocoon cannot be kept for future use more than two or three days.
Technology used at T. Narasipura Factory:
The factory uses the world best technology in raw silk processing unit and adopts the international silk association standards and consist the precise parameters for adopting standards Machineries (automatic are Japanese and semi-automatic are Korean machineries). They use 8 to 8.5 renditta (kgs) of Multivoltaine cocoons and 6.5 to 7 renditta (kgs) of Bi-Voltaine Cocoon.
Mysore Factory:
The factory is situated in the Mysore city which is wide over acres. The raw silk yarn received from the T. Narasipura Factory undergoes different process for the final consumption. KSIC silk products are of 100% pure silk with pure gold lace and 100% pure gold zari. The sarees which are processed differ in their quality to meet their consumers fashion i.e., Crepe-de-Chine, Georgette, Zari printed Crape Silk Sarees, Semi Crepe Sarees. The sarees are colored or printed. The sarees are of 100 different colors and a number of unique designs.
Giving designs at Mysore factory:
The sarees at KSIC are printed and colored with dye basing on the likes of the customers. At several stages as per silk manufacturing standards different kinds of accepted quantity of approved chemicals to absorb and hold the quality and a soft glow and shine of the silk fabric. Skill spent over time to give the comfortable visual and the soft shine crepes on the sarees. These crepes are designed beautifully on the borders and the pallu which contains the fine strands of Zari. The printed crepes on the sarees act as a gift intended to designing and this makes a good use of having the crepe’s softness and a bright range of designs.
